Nik and I went to LM Relax last Friday. He got their chicken with cous cous while I got their osso buco with polenta-- and, as usual, I had food envy. The chicken was cooked really well, perfectly crisp on the outside, but tender on the inside and the herbs marinated on the inside of the skin was a great touch. My osso buco was tender and flavorful, but I was not a fan of the flavor. It had an overpowering orange flavor. But the real disappoint for me was the lack of bone marrow, the best part of osso buco. The bone marrow is just an afterthought here; they don't even provide a little spoon to eat it here.
But their truffle fries more than made up for it. So good I'm thinking about going there for lunch/afternoon tea later today just so I can get some more. The fries were covered in truffles. It could have done with more truffle oil, but I would be perfectly happy eating a huge plate of these fries just the way they are, except a small dish of these are NT$330!
LM Relax is a good place to try once or twice, but the menu doesn't really offer anything that would keep bringing me back. The service also doesn't help, but they do make a decent caipirinha. Get the truffle fries.
